Covert Farms Launches New Tours and Kid-Friendly Adventures
Covert Farms Family Estate has reopened with a brand-new batch of enticing experiences that encourage guests of all ages to explore life on the farm! Alongside immersive tours and tastings that will enchant oenophiles, animal lovers and tiny tots alike, the Coverts have instituted strict safety protocols that prioritize the comfort and wellbeing of every visitor.
Covert Farms offers an idyllic family oasis in the heart of wine country, with an assortment of adventures tailored to visitors of all ages. This summer and fall, guests will experience extra safety precautions, including a focus on private, pre-booked small group experiences. Available now, visitors can hop on the brand-new Wine Enthusiast Harvest Tour ($99 per person), a sensorial sightseeing journey of the Coverts’ family-run farm and winery. After climbing aboard a cherry-red ’52 Mercury, guests are whisked through the breathtaking landscapes of the lush 650-acre estate. Along the way, they explore the intricacies of regenerative farming and winemaking, pausing to wander amid the vines and sip a selection of 100 percent estate-grown wines. Visitors also meet with the resident cattle, which play a central role in sustainable farming. At the tour’s end, voyagers can relax on the rustic patio for a guided wine tasting enhanced by pairings of local cheese, charcuterie, farm-fresh veggies and artisan chocolates. The two-hour tour must be booked as a private experience (up to six people can be accommodated; minimum of two guests required).
As one of the most family-friendly wineries in BC, Covert Farms is paradise for parents. The new Kids’ Mini Farm Tour ($15 per group) offers an experience dedicated solely to kiddies, anchored by meet-and-greets with the farm’s assortment of animals. In addition to learning about the chickens, ducks, baby chicks, rams and Dalilah the potbellied pig, participating children can also choose to feed the llamas and sheep. After reuniting with their parents, they’ll be presented with colouring pages starring the animals they just met. The 30-minute tour must be pre-booked alongside an adult wine tasting.
At many wineries in BC, children are unable to join their parents in the alluring treat of lingering over wine flights – but not so at Covert Farms! The new Kid-Approved Tastings ($2 per child), held in conjunction with private adult wine tastings, guides children through samples of two handcrafted juices made by Harker’s Organics, alongside optional food pairings. Once sated, kids can colour to their hearts’ content, with a pack of crayons provided as a souvenir of their very first “wine” tasting. As children sip their juices, parents can turn their attention towards one of three tasting experiences: the Epicurean Tasting, featuring seven wines and an indulgent Farmers Board charcuterie ($30 per person, plus tax); the Premium Tasting, including five wines paired with local cheeses ($20 per person, plus tax); and the Estate Tasting, focused on five wines ($10 per person, plus tax). All tastings take place on the patio, and must be booked in advance (up to six people can be accommodated per tasting).
Of course, guests can also embark on Covert Farms’ beloved Hands on Harvest Tour ($79 per person), a guided jaunt through the farm and vineyard featuring samples of fresh strawberries and wine grapes picked straight off the vine, and culminating in an outdoor wine tasting and charcuterie board. The tour is currently offered as a private experience only (up to six people can be accommodated; minimum two guests required). Children are also welcome ($20 per child, ages five to 18).
“We are so excited to provide BC residents with an opportunity to kick back, relax and enjoy the best of the Okanagan with our brand-new tours and tastings, which are perfect for families to enjoy together,” said Shelly Covert, co-owner. “We’re confident that first-time and repeat visitors alike will find these tours educational and appealing, and we have instituted strict safety protocols to ensure every guest feels safe and comfortable.”
“I’m particularly excited about our new Wine Enthusiast Harvest Tour, which shines a spotlight on the process and benefits of regenerative farming,” said Gene Covert, co-owner. “Recent global events have underscored the importance of sustainability, reversing climate change and protecting our land, and I am eager to share how regenerative farming is making a key contribution.”
