The Jacket
It’s raining, it’s pouring … but Columbia Sportswear collection of jackets will keep you dry. For men there’s the OutDry™ Rogue Reversible Jacket, which is  lightweight and packable yet designed to withstand cold and wet with a waterproof-breathable shell and synthetic Thermarator down that retains heat even when wet. Stay warm and dry in style. Women can zip up in comfort on the coldest, wettest of days (we’re looking at you, Vancouver) in the Boundary Bay™ Jacket. Insulated and critically seam-sealed with a waterproof-breathable construction, this parka features deep front pockets with zip closures for your phone or gloves and an adjustable hood

The Backpack
For little adventurers, Fjällräven’s scaled-down version of the ever-so-popular Kånken backpack features long shoulder straps that can be adjusted to fit both children and adults. A small pocket on the front fits your keys, wallet and phone (or snacks) and a removable seat cushion makes your next picnic that much more comfortable. ENTER TO WIN IT!

The Tent
The Copper Spur HV UL3 mtnGLO® from Big Agnes is the ultimate ultralight backpacking tent. Easy to pack, setup, and inhabit, the Copper Spur features dual doors to make entry and exit convenient for all. Best of all, it features built in lights to make overnights with kids and four-legged friends better than ever. Inside the steep, vertical walls are perfect for tall adventurers. Too rainy or cold to go explore? In this tent, you could spend an entire afternoon playing cards or just chillin’ without feeling claustrophobic. Here’s to camping in a whole new light.

The Eyewear
You want chic eyewear but you don’t want to pay a fortune to look good and see good.  Enter Ollie Quinn, a Canadian eyewear company that side-steps traditional optical sales methods, cuts prescription lenses locally, and works directly with manufacturers to remove the need for intermediaries and unnecessary mark-ups. Every season, the company comes up with a new collection of frames. Not just frames, the company offers eye exams at their boutiques across Canada. In Vancouver, they have seven locations, each a delightful little light-filled store worthy popping in to try a few things. ENTER TO WIN A $155 GIFT CARD!

The Urban Jacket
From the country that brought you Ikea, Abba and Volvo comes Peak Performance, a sports fashion brand that serves every aspect of the modern lifestyle. Each piece in the collection is designed to endure all seasons, through any weather and fashion, to be durable and withstand physical challenges. From iconic favorites to streetwear must haves. During grey windy days and crisp sunny mornings. Through the city heat and the snow covered mountains. We love the Stella jacket for women because it looks good—really good—while it keeps you warm. Very warm. Your clothes should suit your lifestyle, they should move with you and help you make the most out of every activity.

The Oversized Sweater
Let’s face it, sweaters are the best part about winter. Cropped cuts and dramatic sleeves, as demonstrated by ombré Oswald Sweater and the bell sleeved Lorne Sweater, add a modern twist to the seasonal classic. Miss your summer kimonos? The Phillipa Kimono Scarf offers a warmer version of the sunny-day staple. Our fave is the Lorne turtleneck, a Gentle Fawn best seller. The company was founded in Vancouver by husband and wife team, Daniel and Carla Hogg, 15 years ago and today more than 700 multi-brand retail stores carry the line across North America.

The Read
Yeah, you’ve probably seen the movie or at the very least know someone that’s seen it. It’s not too late to read the book that started it all: Crazy Rich Asians. C’mon, you know you want to. ENTER TO WIN IT!

The Mood Setter
Crisp air carries the welcoming smoke of a crackling fire from a nearby cabin. Breathe in the scent of pine and white birch on a sunlit walk along the trail. This Crackling Firewood candle is crafted from Indigo’s premium soy wax and hand-poured into a tinted glass vessel. It comes beautifully boxed for easy gifting. Baby won’t you light my fire. ENTER TO WIN IT!

The Beauty Routine
Neostrata name translates to “new layers,” which perfectly describes the company’s belief that visible results come from renewing layers of the skin. Based on their heritage of scientific breakthroughs, they’ve created 45 new products across seven distinct collections, each tailored to a specific universal skin concern. We like Skin Active Firming, which address the skin’s loss of firmness that happens with time on the face, neck and décolletage. Often characterized by loss of tone and sagging skin, this collection of products features benefit ingredients that are combined into complexes to address these multiple concerns.

The Booster
Well Told Health is a Canadian wellness company that offers 100% clean supplements crafted from organic botanicals and nothing else. All products are organic, non-GMO, vegan and free of synthetics, fillers and isolates. Each of the 5 “Health Boosters” make great stocking stuffers. We like the booster called Sleep (who doesn’t?!), a non-habit forming sleep aid made from lemon (calming) balm and goji berries (naturally high in melatonin).

The Meat Box
This is the kind of gift that is sure to get you an invite (or hopefully two) over for dinner. Maybe you hate grocery shopping, or maybe you want to support local farmers. A great alternative to the grocery store, truLOCAL connects you to high-end, locally-sourced meat products and delivers right to your doorstep across Ontario, Alberta, and now British Columbia! The entire process is easier than grilling a burger. You create an account then build your box by selecting items such as whole chicken, pork loin, 100% grass fed ribeye steak, buffalo bones…you get the idea. Pescatarians can choose wild caught fish and seafood like Atlantic haddock, Atlantic sea scallops, and Pacific rockfish. They ship overnight on dry ice, so your box stays frozen during delivery. The company’s customizable plans are commitment-free, so you can skip, pause, or cancel at any time, no strings attached! USE CODE LIKEVANCOUVER10 TO GET 10% OFF YOUR PURCHASE!

The Caffeine Lover
Increasing the separation from the current coffee shop tide of serving single origin coffees, Milano Roasters is dedicated to developing their blends by combining anywhere from seven to thirteen different single origin beans of the highest quality. Experts around the world celebrate Milano for their coffee blending skills and recognize that there are very few roasters with the intellectual property to continuously create such complex and balanced espresso blends. Milano’s Mount Pleasant roasting facility on West 8th Ave is where Espresso Master Brian Turko’s commitment to discovery, excellence and flat out mad professor of coffee invention takes place. Just in time for the holidays, Milano is offering The Jingle Blends and Holiday Gift Boxes available until December 31st while quantities last.

The Wine Lover

Blinky and the Phone Fiasco is a humorous, entertaining story for children under age 8, and it’s a fun way for parents and small children to start a conversation on screentime limits and how to make screentime healthier. Meet Viola Desmond  On the night of November 8th 1946, Nova Scotia businesswoman Viola Desmond stood up for her right to be in the “unofficial” whites-only section of a New Glasgow movie theatre . . . and was arrested for it. Supported by the Nova Scotia Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NSCAACP) and the black-owned newspaper The Clarion, Viola took her quest for the right to freedom from discrimination to the courts. While she ultimately did not succeed, she was a beacon to other early civil-rights activists. Her sister Wanda worked hard to promote Viola’s legacy, which has been finally honoured by Viola’s inclusion on the new Canadian $10 bill. ENTER TO WIN IT!

Meet Chris Hadfield When Chris Hadfield was a boy, growing up on a farm in Milton, Ontario, Canada didn’t have a space program. But from the moment he saw a man first walk on the moon, young Chris decided he would somehow get to space. And with everything Chris did, from learning to fix farm machinery and joining the Air Cadets to flying fighter planes and becoming a test pilot, he prepared himself to get there. Chris Hadfield has rocketed into space three times, been on two space walks and was the first Canadian to command the International Space Station. And nobody plays a guitar in space or rocks a mustache better! ENTER TO WIN IT!
