Baru Latino’s spring menu is fresh and tasty with Latin inspired locally sourced ingredients, responsibly caught seafood and is conveniently located in the heart of Kitsilano.
Whether it’s a date night situation, a happy hour mission or a random too-lazy-too-cook kind of evening, multiple award winning Baru Latino has what you need – colourful, refreshing cocktails, full spectrum protein options and veggie forward dishes for the plant eaters.
From the spring menu, we loved the chicken molè for it’s vibrant colours, slight hit of heat and perfectly cooked rice and the trio of fresh scallops balanced on an avocado-fruit medley. We learned from Chef Matt that he puts dark chocolate in the molè to give it an unmistakably warm hearty flavour. The lamb popsicles, a year round menu item, are definitely worth throwing in the mix. If you have a more robust appetite, start with the polenta fries and finish with the Latin flan (or chocolate lava cake).
The Spring cocktails are attractive and delicious. Start with the mango smash while the taste buds are alert as the not-too-sweet brandy, muddled mint and soda water combo could become almost too easy to drink. Next up, spend some time sipping the sangrita, a sangria margarita hybrid. Enjoy the tequila and red wine kick and then round out your sunny afternoon cocktail session with the blood orange mojito. Now that you’ve tried all three, you can proudly announce your cocktail credentials at your next informal office staff meeting.
